IMAP accounts
Connecting an account over IMAP
Kyoor connects to Google, Microsoft and Zoho accounts through their own sign-in, and that is the way to use for them. For any other provider, Kyoor connects over IMAP with your server, your user name and an app password. The app password is stored on your computer only.
Gmail
Use the Google connector instead. IMAP is always on in Gmail, but Google says app passwords are not recommended and are unnecessary in most cases, and many work and school accounts do not offer them. If you need one, it requires 2-Step Verification and is made atmyaccount.google.com/apppasswords.
iCloud Mail
Sign in at account.apple.com, open Sign-In and Security, choose App-Specific Passwords, and Generate. Two-factor authentication must be on. Apple allows up to 25 active app-specific passwords.
Zoho Mail
Use the Zoho connector instead. If you need IMAP, sign in ataccounts.zoho.com, open Security, then Application-Specific Passwords, and Generate New Password. It is required for IMAP when multi-factor authentication is on.
Outlook.com and Microsoft 365
Use the Microsoft connector. Microsoft no longer accepts a password or an app password over IMAP for Outlook.com, so IMAP does not work for these accounts.
Other providers
For Fastmail, Proton Mail through Proton Bridge, a university mail server and the like, you need the IMAP server name, port 993 with TLS, your user name, and an app password if your provider offers one. If it does not, your account password is used instead, and it too is stored on your computer only.
